Product’s description


The ABB DO814 is part of the ABB S800 I/O family and is a 16-channel, 24 V DC digital output module designed for industrial-process control systems.In process control systems using ABB’s DCS or

automation platform (e.g., ABB Ability™ System 800xA®), the DO814 module provides the digital output interface to field devices (actuators, valves, relays,

signal lamps, etc).utputs are current-sinking type (i.e., transistor low-side switching) within an output

specification of 24 V DC (typically) with range approx. 10-30 V.


Frequently Asked Questions About DO814 


Q1: What is the voltage range and current rating for the outputs?
A: The nominal signal specification is 24 V DC (the module is intended for 24 V DC output devices). The module rating shows the output voltage range is

 approximately 10-30 V (or 12-32 V in some specs) for proper switching.

 The maximum continuous current per channel is about 0.5 A. 


Q2: Is each channel individually isolated from the others?
A: The module has two isolated groups (each group contains eight channels). Each group is galvanically isolated

from the other and has its own process-voltage supervision input. However, within a group the

channels share the same group isolation barrier rather than being individually isolated. 


Q4: What kind of wiring or termination units are required?
A: The DO814 fits into ABB’s S800 I/O system and requires a compatible Module Termination

Unit (MTU) or “TU” series (for example TU810, TU812, TU814, TU830, TU833 or TU838).

The termination unit provides the field-wiring connections and the

 ModuleBus mechanical and electrical

 interface.
